Dr. Oral Roberts the great man of God had a TV program in his days and most of the days he would start his program saying “God is good and something is going to happen to you today!” I love that! What a way to start a program, and what a perspective to live with!! I want to borrow his words today and declare that you can expect good things to happen to you every day of your life. In this short blog of mine, I share seven powerful reasons for you to expect something good to happen to you in 2025.

REASON #1 – You can expect good because God is a good God.

As children of God, we can always hope for good things to happen to us at all times. You see, we serve a good God whose mercy endures forever. And because He is good we can expect good. Now, it’s still a fallen world out there and evil has always been active in the world. So a change in the calendar doesn’t guarantee a change in the way we are going to live. And here’s the key: we don’t live by “good times” – we live by a good God!

REASON #2 - You can expect good because God is not limited by “time” – He is outside time.

We read in Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. In several stories in the Bible we see that the people of God did well regardless of the circumstances they came to face. It was in a time of famine that God blessed Isaac a hundredfold and made him a mighty man in the land. It was in a time of famine that God prospered Abraham. It was in a time of difficulty that God multiplied the people of Israel to millions. It was amid captivity that Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were elevated to governing positions in a foreign nation.

REASON #3 – You can expect good because as a Child of God, His blessing rests on you.

This commanded blessing abides on you and does not change concerning day, time or place. The Scripture says “Blessed shall you be in the city and blessed shall you be in the field… Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shall you be when you go out” (Deut 28:3,6). Notice that the blessing is on you primarily regardless of where you are, and consequently, the place you live is impacted by the blessing that is on you.

REASON #4 – You can expect good because God goes before His children to make it easy for them to flourish and prosper.

When the people of Israel were closing in on Canaan, Moses said “The Lord your God goes before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy the giants in the land and make it easy for you to conquer them” (Deut 9:3). When King Cyrus set his heart on fulfilling God’s purpose for the nation of Israel, God’s word spoke to Him saying “I am going before you to make all crooked paths straight” (Isa 45:2). And God’s hand indeed began to work wondrously on Cyrus’ behalf. In the same way, when those who are called according to His purpose move forward to possess what belongs to them, God goes before them to prepare everything they need.

REASON #5 – You can expect good because God loves to see you progress and advance in life.

Proverbs 4:18 (NASB) says – The path of the righteous is like the light of the dawn that shines brighter and brighter. The MSG translation puts it across saying “The longer they live, the brighter they shine.” When things go bad let us sit back wishing that things would “go back to the normal” but instead move forward and make progress.

REASON #6 – You can expect good because God has laid up great goodness for all those who love Him and honour Him (Ps 31:19).

Apostle Paul says that God has made the believer sit with Christ in the heavenly places so that in the ages to come, He might show the exceeding riches of His grace, and I believe we are in “the ages to come” that Paul was referring to in Ephesians 2:7. So regardless of what awaits the world in the coming year, the children of God are up for some good things – favour, provision, protection, promotions and increase. His blessing upon us will go to work for us all through the year in everything we do.

REASON #7 – You can expect good because God is with you: He is with you to prosper, protect and guide you.

The Scripture says “God was with Joseph and he was successful” (Gen 39:2). His presence in our lives is what causes us to flourish in all that we do wherever we go. And because God is with us this year, we can expect good things to happen to us. We can expect promotions and elevations regardless of what happens in the world around us. And if anything evil happens, God will turn them for our good.

Beloved it is important to live expecting to see good every new day. It keeps you in faith. It puts a spring in your steps. King David says “I would’ve died if I did not believe to see the goodness of God” (Ps 27:13). That means when he was being ignored and downplayed by his family, he believed in God’s goodness. When he lived in the wilderness hiding from King Saul he expected to see the goodness of God. Every time he faced battles and trials he looked for God’s goodness. It kept him alive and well.

I hope you received these powerful truths today and are encouraged in your faith to believe in God for his goodness this year and be blessed beyond your dreams.

God bless you!!
