- GOD INCREASES DAVID’S ANOINTING
Although David’s family underestimated him, he remained devoted to seeking God’s presence and worshipped faithfully while tending his father’s sheep.
KEY TAKEAWAY: When you seek God’s presence, His anointing will find you.
Few expected David to achieve greatness, yet God chose and anointed him before his brothers.
- Evg. Reinhard Bonnke says, “Christian Heritage is a blessing, but it is not a prerequisite to walking in the power of God; (ultimately) it is Him and You!”
David was anointed three times, and with each anointing, his authority, influence, and territory grew. God expanded his anointing and accelerated his calling.
Rom 8:30 – And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Notice the progression: predestined, called, justified, and glorified. God wants not only growth but also to accelerate your anointing through your faithfulness at each stage.
- WHAT DID DAVID DO WHILE IN THE WAIT?
The Scripture records three instances when God anointed David:
1 Sam 16:13 – First anointed by Samuel when he was 17 years of age
2 Sam 2:4 – Second anointed by the elders of Judah when he was 30 years of age
2 Sam 5:3 – Third time anointed by the whole of Israel when he was 37 years of age.
There were 20 years and 20 chapters between David’s anointing and his appointment. He had to wait because the throne was not vacant and he was not yet ready.
During his waiting period, David did not let his anointing remain dormant. He defeated lions and bears, served his brothers, and worshipped God with such excellence that evil spirits fled when he played. David actively used his anointing and did not waste his time waiting.
KEY TAKEAWAY: While you wait, work the anointing you already have.
If you feel unnoticed, use this time to overcome challenges, serve, and share your anointing. Whether you preach from a platform or share the good news in daily interactions, God will increase your influence as you serve, just as He did for David.
- HOW THE ANOINTING GROWS FULLER
Eze 47:1-10 – Read the whole passage
A river flows from the temple. In the New Testament, believers are the temple of the Lord, and the river represents the Holy Spirit and His anointing (John 7:37-39). The river flows from within believers; we are the temple of the Lord today.
As the river from the temple grows as it flows, so does the anointing, the more you use and release it. This continues the earlier theme of acceleration.
KEY TAKEAWAY: the anointing grows fuller as it goes further: the more it flows, the more it grows.
- KEY TO FLOW DEEPER IN THE ANOINTING
As Ezekiel walked, the river’s depth increased—from ankle to knee, waist, and then above the head. The river was shallow near the temple but deepened as it flowed toward the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea represents the world of unbelievers around us—broken, lost, and in need. Our calling is to reach them and bring deliverance through the anointing on our lives.
KEY TAKEAWAY: Your anointing grows deeper and accelerates as you pour into the broken and hurting around you.
Mk 16:20 – Jesus commissioned His disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel: they went, and the Lord worked miracles and wonders through them. Their anointing accelerated as they ministered to those who were lost, broken, and in need.
The Story of Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke:
Reinhard Bonnke was born in Germany to a pastor and a mother who prayed a lot. He became a Christian when he was nine, during the war. At ten, he felt God tell him in church that he would one day preach in Africa. He was the fifth child, and his father said the ministry would go to the oldest son, so his brothers and sisters laughed at Reinhard. Even though he wasn’t the best student and found math hard, he believed in his calling and practiced preaching on his own in the woods. He brought his guitar and Bible to the streets, singing and talking about Jesus to people who stopped to listen. One day, a man decided to become a Christian, and Reinhard was so excited that he ran home and told his father, “It works!”
In 1955, Reinhard went to Bible College. He found preaching and speaking English difficult, but he prayed every morning. After finishing college, he had almost no money. He rode buses and sometimes walked to save money and get exercise. One day, he saw a house with the name George Jeffery on it and rang the doorbell, wondering if it belonged to the famous evangelist he’d read about, who had seen thousands healed at his events.
An old man came to the door. Reinhard introduced himself and said, “I’m Reinhard Bonnke. I just finished Bible College, and I feel called to preach in South Africa.” The old man hugged Reinhard and prayed for him for half an hour. Reinhard felt God’s presence in the room and was deeply moved. Later, when Reinhard’s father was about to die, he asked Reinhard to come home so he could pass on his healing ministry to him.
In 1967, Reinhard and his wife sailed to Africa. In Lesotho, he held meetings in a yellow tent, but usually only five or six people came. He also spoke at small churches with just a few people there. For years, Reinhard kept going even though not many people came. He prayed at night, taught Bible classes, trained young men to preach, and made Christian magazines. He stayed faithful in small things, believing that God wanted to build his character more than give him a big ministry.
Then, Reinhard met a South African preacher who was famous for healing people. The preacher agreed to come to two meetings. Many people, including those who were sick or disabled, showed up. The guest preacher spoke for ten minutes and then ended the meeting, saying he would pray for the sick the next day. The next day, when Reinhard went to pick him up, the man was leaving, saying God told him to go. Reinhard was upset and cried as he drove away, telling God, “I’m not a famous preacher, but I am your servant. I will preach, and you can do the miracles.”
Reinhard told the other pastors that the guest preacher was gone, but Jesus was still there. He preached, and during the service, his translator fainted under the power of God. Then Reinhard felt God tell him to pray for blind people. He said, “In Jesus’ name, let blind eyes see!” A woman at the back shouted, “I can see!” He also prayed for a child who couldn’t walk, and the child walked.
After that day, his meetings became full of miracles. Reinhard started CFAN, his ministry. They built a tent big enough for 34,000 people, but a storm destroyed it, so they held outdoor meetings instead, allowing even more people to attend. His last big meeting in Lagos, Nigeria, had 3.5 million people, and 1 million chose to follow Jesus.
CONCLUSION: GO AFTER THE LOST
- Evg. Reinhard Bonnke said, “If we truly follow Jesus, Jesus follows us.”
As you reach out with the anointing you have, the anointing grows and accelerates. Use it to set captives free and bring people to God—this is the secret to acceleration.
KEY TAKEAWAY: The secret to accelerating your anointing is using it to reach and deliver the lost, not for personal fame.
->A TRUE STORY: Near the summit of Mount Washington, a cairn marks where a young girl died of heart-failure on a cold night. She and her father, lost after attempting the climb without a guide, sat down in confusion as darkness fell. The next morning, her father discovered a shelter was just a short distance ahead. If only someone had been there to share the good news.
Child of God, you are anointed to reach the lost and set them free by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. As you do this in any capacity, the anointing of the Holy Spirit will increase and empower you to bless many. You are anointed.
