LAST WEEK’S RECAP

In Lev 14:17 we read that the oil was to be applied to the blood of the sacrifice. Notice that the oil did not come on the dust, flesh, or sweat. It came on the blood. In the same way, our anointing is not because of our own works, performance, or efforts, but because of the blood of Jesus.

The main ingredient of the anointing is the extra virgin olive oil obtained from the first press. This can be seen fulfilled in the event of Jesus shedding blood in the garden of Gethsemane, which is an olive press. (Gath means press and Shemen is oil).

BONUS POINTThe Anointing is yours because Jesus was crushed.

Today in our study, I want to share with you five truths on what it means to be anointed.

  1. THE ANOINTING SETS YOU APART AS “UNCOMMON.”

Lev 8:12 – And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.

Ps 89:20 – With my holy oil I have anointed him.

Notice the words ‘sanctify’ and ‘holy’. The word used in the Hebrew is KADOSH, which means to be set apart, special, and uncommon.

BONUS POINTThe word “Holy” means “to be set apart as special and uncommon”.

Therefore, I submit to you that the anointing on your life sets you apart as uncommon: You are no longer just ordinary or common. You are special.

  1. THE ANOINTING IS A MARK OF HONOR

Lev 21:12 – For the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.

Heb 1:9 – Jesus was anointed with the oil of gladness above his fellows.

Notice the word “crown” and the words “above his fellows”. It is an honor to be anointed. It is Biblically fitting to agree that anointing = Honor”. This is exactly why Jesus makes a big deal out of the fact that the Pharisee failed to anoint his head with oil (Lk 7:46).

Another clear proof is seen in 2 Sam 23:1, where we read that David was anointed and exalted. This year, I pray that you experience honor and exaltation wherever you go as the anointing overflows in your life.

  1. THE ANOINTING GIVES YOU ACCESS TO THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

1 Sam 16:13 – From that day forward, the Spirit of God came upon David.

The most important aspect of the anointing is that the Holy comes to live in you to help you in all your ways. Therefore, the inference here is that the help of the Holy Spirit is now made available to you in every way by the anointing. Here are a few things that the Holy Spirit wants to give you as a result of the anointing:

  1. a)      1 Sam 2:10 – Strength
  2. b)      Acts 10:38 – Power
  3. c)      Acts 6:10 – Wisdom
  4. d)      Acts 13:52 – Joy
  5. e)      Exo 35:30-33 – Skills you need for the fulfillment of his purpose

BONUS POINTThe anointing can fill you with skills you don’t have.

  1. THE ANOINTING IS ON YOU FOR AN ASSIGNMENT

Exo 29:29 – You are anointed, and you are ordained.

Isa 45:1-3 – King Cyrus was anointed by God to open doors for Israel and to be good to them.

BONUS POINTYour ‘appointing’ requires the anointing.

Remember, the anointing is given to you for a reason: to empower you and furnish you with the wisdom, favor, and skills you need to accomplish God’s purposes of God in your life. So every time you face a task that seems daunting, remind yourself that you are anointed and are well-equipped to complete it by the Almighty God.

->Several weeks ago, I was invited to preach at an all-night prayer meeting organized by the FGAG church in Bangalore, India, one of the largest churches in the city. Rev. Paul Thangiah, a preacher I admire greatly, was present. As my session approached, I felt a sense of inadequacy and nervousness, but I reminded myself, “I am anointed for this session. I am anointed to bless these people.” When my opportunity to minister arose, my session was extended, and many people received a blessing through the message.

->Last week, my Pastor, Rev. B. Ramesh Babu, asked me to preach in the opening session of the All India Pastors Glorious Gospel Conference, with hundreds of experienced Pastors in attendance. Though I initially felt overwhelmed and fearful, I prayed in the Spirit and reaffirmed that I was anointed for this moment. The teaching on friendship with the Holy Spirit was well received, and many Pastors expressed gratitude for the insights shared. Praise God!

  1. THE ANOINTING IS A MARK OF PROTECTION

Ps 20:6 – The Lord keeps his anointed safe.

Ps 105:15 – Do not touch my anointed ones. Do not harm my prophets.

The anointing that sets you on fire is also the anointing that surrounds and protects you at all times.

->A pastor was returning to his village after a fruitful day of ministry, and unbeknownst to him was a group of hooligans waiting at the entrance of the village to attack him and incapacitate him. As the Pastor drew close to the bridge where they hid, they beckoned to each other to make the first move, and while they argued on who was going to lead the attack, the Pastor rode back to his house in safety!!

Read Ps 23:5 – “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

As we read these lines, it is imperative that we ask how the anointing pertains to the sheep. You see, in the land of Israel, a certain type of flies trouble the sheep by laying eggs in their fleece and ears. Once hatched, the maggots infest the brain of the sheep, and they begin to act crazy. In order to avoid this, the shepherd in the land of Israel anoints the head of the sheep with olive oil, which acts as a natural repellent to the flies. So the anointing protects the sheep literally.

Now we are the sheep of his flock, and flies are a type of evil spirits. In Mt 12:27, Jesus calls the devil “Beelzebub,” which translates to “Lord of flies”. Therefore, flies are a type of evil spirits and the anointing on your life protects you against all evil forces operating against you.

Dear Child of God, I sure hope that you were blessed and enlightened by the truths shared. I strongly encourage you to face each new day prophesying and over yourself that you are anointed, set apart, marked for honor, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and protected in all your ways. I believe and declare that as you do, you will see the victories you want to see in every area of your life, in Jesus’ Name! God bless you!
